On International Women’s Day, these archive images reflect the dedicated support Liverpool FC has received from female fans since the club’s earliest years.

The pictures show examples of the specially-designed season ticket folders for ladies who attended matches at Anfield in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Mrs Meadows not only attended every league and reserve fixture but also collected playing stats, while Mrs Ransom was also ever-present for league football.

International Women’s Day takes place on March 8 each year, celebrating women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements, as well as supporting the call for gender parity.
