Juventus could be preparing to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey when the Welshman’s contract expires this summer, according to Andrea Pirlo.
Ramsey, who has assisted seven goals in the Premier League this season, is set to leave Arsenal on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires.
Who will sign Aaron Ramsey? Five key things to know
- Contract talks between Ramsey and the club broke down when Arsenal revoked an offer of £170,000 per week.
- But Arsenal could cash in on Ramsey early for around £18m next month, according to some reports.
- Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, all champions of their respected divisions, are said to be interested.
- Ramsey is free to enter transfer talks with any non-Premier League clubs in January.
- Pirlo, who won four Serie A titles with Juventus, feels the Arsenal midfielder would be an “excellent” addition.
Juventus are currently dominating Italian football’s top flight after adding Cristiano Ronaldo this summer but are thought to be interested in adding Ramsey if he is still available in the summer.
There could be plenty of interest in the Welshmen with PSG thought to be lining up a bid during January but Andrea Pirlo is optimistic that Juventus can pull off another big transfer coup.
“Ramsey would be a great buy,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Juventus are preparing to pull off another excellent deal. He’s a good player and he could do very well.”
Juventus have won the last seven consecutive Serie A titles and are favourites to make it eight on the spin thanks to a healthy nine-point lead at the top of the table with 18 gameweeks played.
If Ramsey is not snapped up for a fee during the January window, the Bianconeri will be one of the favourites to sign the midfielder this summer.
What would Ramsey add to The Old Lady?
Ramsey has been a mainstay at the Gunners since arriving from Cardiff City in 2008.
He has an ability on the ball that makes him one of Arsenal’s most creative players. In fact, he has assisted more goals since the start of last season than any other teammate.

He has also bagged 37 Premier League for the Gunners during his ten-and-a-half seasons in north London, making him one of the highest-scoring central midfielders in the club’s history.
If Juventus were to sign Ramsey, they would be adding a player who could feed talented front men Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala while adding depth to an already talented squad. It would make winning the Champions League an even more realistic target for the Turin giants.
