“Winning against PSV and going to the next round, as well as achieving top four at the end of the season, are the factors to give Inter a ticket to sign a top player next summer. And the name that has been circulating in the head of Giuseppe Marotta is undoubtedly Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.”
Tuttosport once again insists on the Serbian midfielder as a big transfer market signing in store for the Inter executive.
“At the moment, it is difficult to think that Inter will intervene in January if not with operations similar to Rafinha in January 2018 when the player arrived on loan with option to buy. That is if Lotito does not decide to surrender the Serbian immediately who has had a negative first half of the season, strongly contested by a part of Lazio supporters.
“At that point, Inter should move ahead trying to persuade Lotito to accept an ‘imaginative’ proposal. Access to round of 16 in the Champions League – and its millions – plus the possible sale of Gabriel Barbosa for €20M (this is how much Inter asked for at the beginning of this year), it would allow Inter to have a solid foundation on a paid-loan, postponing the big expense until the summer. So how much? Difficult to say. In recent months, Lotito evaluated Milinkovic-Savic at about €120M (the Lazio boss repeatedly has said that offers close to that figure were rejected), today it is difficult to imagine that the midfielder is worth more but there will not be any discount.
“The problem for a possible sale in January would be the competition both foreign and domestic even though Juventus at the moment seem more interested in bringing back Pogba. There is also Milan which in the summer tried to sign the Serbian but without success. The player remains a transfer goal for them but the delicate situation with UEFA seems to have taken Milan out of contention, certainly very complicated for them.”
