There is first true contact between the Zhang family and Antonio Conte.
To reveal it is the Gazzetta dello Sport which reports the preliminary dialogue between the Inter ownership and the former coach of Chelsea. According to the newspaper, Conte’s demand is very high: €10M net per season.
Certainly, this is the strategy used by the Italian coach who is waiting calmly to weigh his next move, without haste. Same approach is also taken by Inter. The Nerazzurri are still not 100% certain that they want to part ways with coach Spalletti and not just because sacking him would cost the club nearly €25M (wages for his staff included) with two more years left in contract.
The season is still ongoing and it must be concluded in the best way possible and the work so far by Spalletti is greatly appreciated by the club and its management. Not to mention that there is no coach in Italy that receives close to the number that Conte is asking: Allegri makes €7M, Spalletti is at €4.5M
Furthermore, the Gazzetta dello Sport believes that there is not a lot of competition for Conte. Allegri should stay at Juventus while the plan of Milan is far from obvious as it depends greatly on Champions League spot, very uncertain.
In short, first contact was made between all parties, favored above all by the excellent relationship between Conte and Marotta. But Inter are evaluating what to do, same goes with the Italian coach. The future is yet to be written.
