The Gazzetta dello Sport looks back at the calls made by referee Mariani in Genoa-Inter.
“At the 27th minute, Asamoah’s ball was stolen by Sanabria but he then recovered it moments later with a tackle that was normal. But to referee Mariani, it was not as he whistled and gave the Inter left back a yellow card. Really harsh.
“Then 11 minutes later, D’Ambrosio launched the ball in the box for Icardi who was first pushed by Romero and at the very moment that the striker started to take a shot, the Genoa defender pulled his shirt down to the ground. Mariano had no hesitation: penalty and red card to Romero. Correct choice.”
Inter’s 3rd and 4th goal were checked by VAR and both were also correctly rewarded.
