There is a Milan transfer market derby and it is on the horizon for Diego Godin, one of the most desirable free agents in the world. The Uruguayan central defender did not accept the offer to renew with Atletico Madrid and is ver intrigued by trying an experience in Serie A according to the Corriere dello Sport.
Milan, under a new management of Leonardo and Maldini, have already had meetings with the agents which are working with Godin’s sister, Lucia. She has all the power and takes care of the Atletico Madrid captain’s interest. The intermediaries have also knocked on the door of Inter because they know that Ausilio is a huge fan and also that Marotta tried to sign Godin last summer before returning to Bonucci.
It is not a surprise however that Godin wants to continue playing in the Champions League and in this perspective, his preference is Inter which have higher chances to finish in the top four compared to the Rossoneri. Also the time factor could be very important here because a player of his caliber will certainly not wait in June to decide his future: he will not leave in January but at the beginning of spring, the player would love to have certainties about his future. This is an advantage for the club of Suning even though that Milan will not give up easily.
Godin currently makes €4.5M net per season. Atletico Madrid offered a renewal at a lower figure, and an extra year that is linked to the number of appearances. That was not accepted and now the defender is looking around. So why are Inter considering Godin? Simple because Miranda’s adventure will end: either in January or June. Cahill of Chelsea was offered but for the moment, this option is not too exciting.
