According to Tuttosport, Duvan Zapata is in pole position to replace Mauro Icardi at Inter.
“The presence of Piero Auslio in Bergamo is a clue, that plus the excellent relationship between Steven Zhang and Percassi is reliable proof of Inter’s intention. The Colombian, thanks to the guidance of coach Gian Piero Gasperini, has matured greatly over the past year. He also has physicality that reminds us of Romelu Lukaku (another target that Inter are considering) and can co-exist with Lautaro Martinez who is considered fundamental for Suning in the future. Not only that, Zapata has 21 goals this season and is proven to be a great bomber in front of goal.
“Unlike Icardi, he is a classic striker who knows how to play well with a team and can work with any coach who will sit on the Inter bench next season. In addition, his assessment will allow Inter to make a profit by selling Icardi (no one is paying 110 million but Inter will profit off of it regardless). In fact, Atalanta signed the Colombian on a two-year loan (12 million) with another 12 for redemption and in January, Percassi said no to a 40-million offer from West Ham. However, his value now should not be that much higher than this figure. Let’s not forget that Inter do have players to include to lower demand, to make this deal even more economically sustainable.”
