The Gazzetta dello Sport discusses Handanovic’s performances of this season.
“At almost 35 years old (will be on July 14th) and in the seventh season wearing the Inter shirt, Samir Handanovic now has another objective to play for: having a record of cleansheets in Serie A. After 31 matches, all of which he played from the first minute, the Slovenian is on 15 cleansheets. Last year, he received 17 and was fundamental in bringing Inter back to the Champions League. Now, Samir has 7 more games starting with Frosinone of his great friend Sportiello to beat his own record (Buffon and De Sanctis had 21 cleansheets in a season, the most of the last 10 years) and to quality for the most important European club competition once more.”
The pink newspaper also points out that Handanovic will be Inter starting goalkeeper until his contract runs out in 2021. During that time, Radu (on loan at Genoa and Inter have buy-back option) and Brazao (on loan at Parma) will be under his guidance.
