Lautaro Martinez will continue leading the Inter attack against SPAL. However, Il Toro is going to miss Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night due to a suspension. We also need to watch out for him in Serie A because receiving one more yellow card will sideline him versus Milan on March 17th.
So, Lautaro is on the verge of suspension (we all know he will be given the way that he plays) and Mauro Icardi is not likely to come back anytime soon, the Gazzetta dello Sport provides three options to deal with this potential emergency:
Keita Balde – Against SPAL, Keita will get a call-up and perhaps could find around 15 minutes. But to think about relying him from the first minute against Eintracht on Thursday seems too risky. It is better to think about putting him in mid-game considering his quality of being able to turn the game in Inter’s favor. For sure, due to his characteristics as a number 9, Keita is the ideal solution if both Icardi and Lautaro are out.
Ivan Perisic – Meanwhile, there is another good news. As anticipated by Spalletti, the knock suffered by Perisic last Thursday is not serious, so much so that he could also be available against SPAL. But let’s be clear, it doesn’t mean for sure that he will be on the pitch. Looking ahead to Eintracht, the Croatian could as as a center forward with Politano and Candreva on his sides.
Matteo Politano – It is difficult to think of relaying on young players like Colidio and Salcedo who so far have only been on the bench of the first team. The last solution would be Politano as a false 9. A role that he “can do” according to Spalletti, “but with different characteristics: he would help us attacking the midfield and defensive lines.”
