Speaking to the local reporters at the “Manager of the Year” ceremony, Piero Ausilio talks about the upcoming transfer market.

“I do not expect anything big to happen. We believe that we have a competitive squad for our objectives. What was asked of this team at the beginning of the year was to getting to the Champions League spot and maybe doing so not at the last minute. Now, we are third and in line with our objectives. I do not see where the problem is. We did not go through in the Champions League but that was a very difficult target at the beginning: Tottenham and Barcelona have more experience and are the favorites. We tried and almost succeeded: it does not mean a complete failure, we will try again next  year. And now we will try to do our best in the Europa League.”

The Inter sporting director also comments on the sacking of Jose Mourinho earlier this morning.

“I am surprised because he is a great coach. It is normal that for us to always look at the results but I do not know the reasons for this divorce. There is a great appreciation for Mourinho but that does not mean anything on Inter’s part: we have a great coach and we are building the future with him. We are going forward with Spalletti.”
