In an interview with Tuttosport, Nicolo Zaniolo’s father talks about the progress and future of his son.
“The one thing that surprised me the most about him is his maturity. I didn’t think he was already so mature, especially on the pitch. As a former player myself, I really like his desire to win the ball, he never gives up and always plays at the service of the team. Mancini compares my son to Pogba? In terms of attributes and characteristics, there comparison is there: Nicolo is also an all-around midfielder. But Pogba is world champion, my son is just a boy. Future? Nicolo is doing fine at Roma. He is at a great club and is very grateful to the Giallorossi and his teammates: especially the senior players such as Dzeko, De Rossi and Florenzi, they are helping him to improve.”
Without Champions League, Roma could sacrifice your son.
“First of all, let’s hope that they can achieve the Champions League. Even without it, it is never said that they would sell my son because I think Roma want to focus on him. But we will evaluate offers if they want to sell Nicolo. Given the figures circulating (€50M), I don’t think many teams would step forward. In Italy, I can only think of Juventus and Inter. But we will see. Nicolo’s priorities right now are the Champions League and then U-21 Euro.”
