A few days ago, Il Romanista (newspaper that is close to everything and anything Roma) spoke of excellent chances to see Antonio Conte coaching the Giallorossi next season as Inter were completely out of the race for the former Chelsea coach. Today, the same newspaper has suddenly made a reversal:
“Suddenly, the road ahead is uphill. The project of giving Roma to Antonio Conte next year risks being wrecked even before taking shape and the reason is one and only one: Inter. Not Juve, not PSG, not Bayern Munich. The favorite at this point is Inter. Therefore, Marotta’s intervention was not a bluff. The bluff was when he reassured the fans on Monday that Spalletti’s future remains in Milan.”
According to Il Romanista, Giuseppe Marotta was able to get Conte’s preference, at least verbally and he is now waiting for an official proposal from China. Roma remain confident, they think that they still have room to make moves and recovery plans. But at the same time, the club has started to study new alternatives that today are not easy to find.
