The agent of Keita Balde Diao has said Inter Milan will sign the Monaco forward permanently before the end of the season.
Keita is currently on loan at Inter from Monaco in a deal that includes a €34 million option to buy.
Are there doubts over Keita’s Inter move? Four things to know:
- In a similar situation, Joao Cancelo spent last season on loan at Inter from Valencia with an option to buy.
- However, Serie A champions Juventus swooped in to sign Cancelo over the summer.
- Keita has been linked with Napoli and Tottenham both before and during his current loan spell at the San Siro.
- But his agent insists Keita’s situation is different to that of Cancelo.
Keita has scored four goals in 22 appearances across all competitions for Inter since arriving in the summer.
And the 23-year-old’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has given assurances about where Keita’s future lies.
“This won’t be another Cancelo,” Roberto Calenda told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Inter will find a way to sign him outright. There’s time between now and May.
“The figure is €34m, but that’s the price you pay for these kinds of players. If he does what he has to do, there’s no doubt he’ll stay in Milan.”
“Tottenham and Napoli wanted Keita”
Keita has been directly involved in seven goals in 17 Serie A appearances in Inter’s No.11 jersey, scoring three and assisting as many.
The Senegal international has had a hand in a goal every 174 league minutes this term but has failed to cement a place in the side.
Keita’s agent also admitted Spurs and Napoli were keen on the attacker before his current loan move.
“There were other interested teams. Since last January, Napoli had moved. We also received calls from Tottenham,” Caldena added.
“But faced with the possibility of Inter, Keita had no doubts, he immediately made his wishes understood.”
