According to Tuttosport, the future of Andrea Ranocchia at Inter is directly linked to the UEFA Champions League next season: the Nerazzurri, reportedly, will only renew the Italian defender’s contract if this objective is reached.

And so the scenario is this: if there is Champions League football next season, Piero Ausilio would like to focus on an experienced defender like Ranocchia (probably as a fourth CB) but if in the most unfortunate event that there isn’t one, Inter would likely aim to give that spot to a young defender such as Bastoni, Vanheusden, Gravillon to learn and play behind starting CBs (Skriniar, De Vrij and Godin).
