Being under restrictions of the UEFA Fiancial FairPlay can kill your ambition… and it did in the case of Inter and German midfielder Leon Goretzka.
According to reports, Inter tried to sign the then Schalke 04 midfielder last summer, so much so that they actually met with the player’s agents. However, negotiation was stopped right then and there because the agents demanded 20 million in commission in order to bring him to Appiano Gentile. Obviously, under FFP, Inter’s hands were tied and unable to move forward with negotiation. Bayern Munich, without FFP restrictions, stepped in and acquired Leon Goretzka.
