Inter and Mauro Icardi are close to going separate ways in the summer. This is according to today’s edition of La Repubblica which specifies that March 7, the first leg in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, is the final deadline for deciding on possible right knee surgery for the former captain. This operation would mark the end of the season for Mauro as well as his time in black and blue, plus it will make it almost impossible for him to get a call-up to play for his country in Copa America this summer.

Regarding a new contract, battling each other on social media and on TV doesn’t help although there remains one compromise in theory: lowering the release clause from €110M to just €80M. A 26-year-old striker is destroying his career in front of our eyes…
