Inter are in need of goals and Lautaro Martinez could be the solution to this problem. The Argentinian has goalscoring instincts and the relationship between minutes played and goals scored (one every 118 minutes) is only lower than Piatek and Milik. The numbers speak for themselves and so does the investment that Inter made to bring Lautaro from Racing Club to Serie A. He is just too good to keep in a corner of the bench. Lautaro just has to understand that to make an important leap forward – especially in the technical hierarchies of Spalletti – sacrificing and desire to make himself available to the team count even before scoring goals. Even after two goals scored against Benevento, Luciano Spalletti did not seem satisfied with the off-ball work of Lautaro (“he must do more”).

The Inter attack isn’t working as well as the coaching staff and fans had hoped. In fact, statistically, it is pretty brutal: the trident of Politano-Icardi-Perisic has 14 goals in the league, just like Ronaldo, Quagliarella and Zapata have done… by themselves. And in the overall ranking of goals scored, Inter have dropped to 6th place at -13 from Atalanta. To reverse this trend, all clues lead to greater involvement of Lautaro.
