Since December 13th, the day that Inter announced Giuseppe Marotta as club CEO, something has changed within the dynamics of the club. In the first two and a half months, pointed out by Sky, the director from Varese has been called to solve some really tense and delicate situations concerning three biggest names of the team: Nainggolan, Perisic and Icardi. And the results on the pitch seem to reward this new hardline policy adopted by Marotta and in agreement with president Steven Zhang.

Nainggolan was the first name to meet the “Marotta code” with suspension and fine for being late repeatedly to training. The Belgian was also excluded from the team to play against Napoli just before the end of 2018. The former Roma player returned to the pitch three days later at Empoli where he played 33 minutes to start the progress of reintegration into the team project.

And then came the “stomach ache” of Ivan Perisic. Marotta had to solve this situation with just the last few days of January transfer market when the Croatian showed the desire to leave. He was excluded from the squad in the game against Torino and Lazio but it seems that he is finally back playing at his level, something that he did not manage to do in the first part of the season.

Finally, the most complicated case of all, and one that is still unsolved, is that of Mauro Icardi. After the back and forth regarding contract, Inter decided to remove the captaincy and give it to Samir Handanovic. Since then, the Argentinian has not stopped on the pitch because he is complaining of problems in right knee. This decision has provoked positive reaction on the field where the team of Spalletti has put together four positive results: three wins (at Rapid, Sampdoria and Rapid again) and of course the absurd 3-3 draw against Fiorentina.
