Ivan Rakitic and a future in Barcelona, this story is far from a conclusion. But in this sense, the Catalan club seems to have clear ideas: according to Sport, Barcelona would like to make the Croatian to be one of the squad’s key elements for its sporting project but the player knows that many things can change until June 30th.
That being said, the Spanish club executives have repeatedly told Rakitic’s agent that they are not willing to improve his contract (last renewal came in 2017). Barcelona will not cave in on this firm position and to the midfielder this is like an invitation for him to leave the club if there is a big offer.
Rakitic would like a new deal and is intended to have a conversation with the club at the end of the season. But at the same time, he would be open to evaluate other proposals if there’s no adjustment (wage increase). There are going to be offers from the Premier League and of course Inter. Before anything else, both sides would like to finish the season relatively smoothly.
