Alexis Sanchez and Inter, maybe, just maybe, this will finally be the right time. Sporting director Piero Ausilio worked on signing the Chilean star several times in the past, first when he played at Udinese and then when he decided leaving Barcelona for the Premier League where he made a massive impact at Arsenal, scoring 80 goals in 166 games. That resulted in major increase in his value and thus making it difficult not only for Inter but probably for Italian football to sign him.
But now, things have changed: since his arrival at Manchester United, he has not had the sparks that we are accustomed to. Just two goals this season, five in 45 games in the Red Devils shirt in two seasons. And his adventure at Old Trafford seems to be at end credits.
At 30 years old, Sanchez wants a new challenge at another big club, probably the last of his career. Italy remains in his heart and he would run back in a heart beat but the current wage of €15M net per season is a major obstacle. But in the meantime, the first steps to understand the feasibility of this operation have begun, as indicated by his agent’s arrival in Italy.
Fernando Felicevich was in Milan for a few days where he attended the match between Milan and Bologna on Monday. He also had a meeting with Inter executives to try to understand if this is possible. Manchester United are willing to give him up on loan with option to buy. Inter? They are considering the chances of buying Sanchez outright.
In other words, Sanchez has been offered to the Nerazzurri but at the moment everything remains a remote hypothesis.
