Reducing the gap with Juventus is the goal of Inter going forward especially now that the Nerazzurri will likely have Antonio Conte on the bench. The decision seems to have already been made, the former Chelsea coach has an agreement with Marotta on the basis of three-year deal at €9M per season.
According to Sport Mediaset, the next step is building the team based on the requests of the Italian coach. First name on the list is Romelu Lukaku of Manchester United with Edin Dzeko as an alternative. Conte does like Icardi but for his style of play, he prefers a more physical striker who opens up spaces for the team, one that is a better fit together with Lautaro Martinez.
The signing of Diego Godin completes the three-man defense for next season. Danilo from City is close and Darmian could be another reinforcement for the wingback position. Pellegrini and Barella are two targets for the midfield, they are much more viable options than Barcelona midfielder Rakitic.
This could be Conte’s 3-5-2 formation next season:
Handanovic; Godin, De Vrij, Skriniar; Danilo, Pellegrini, Brozovic, Nainggolan, Asamoah; Lukaku, Lautaro.
