Inter are working on Antonio Conte and they are doing so with more and more conviction because the former coach of Chelsea has become the number one and only solution to replace Luciano Spalletti this summer. If there is a change, then it will be to bring Conte in. Otherwise, Spalletti will stay.
The last few weeks were used to convince ownership because Suning was skeptical about this change which is considered not only that it can give Inter a positive spark but it is almost necessary. And now Inter CEO is trying to tighten the grip even further, to avoid any comeback done by Juventus which can be very dangerous.
And how is Marotta going to do that? Well, the first thing to do is to reassure Conte on two fronts. The most easy one is economics as Antonio is asking for €10M per year for three years.
It is going to be a major investment and added on to it should also be Spalletti’s wage who is still under contract for two more seasons. But on one hand, it is difficult to imagine that the Tuscan coach will remain without football and coaching for two years and on the other, Antonio’s economic sacrifice can be tolerated with Champions League revenues and with the prospect of starting a new winning cycle.
On this front, Suning’s approval is closer compared to a few weeks ago.
The other guarantee requested by Conte is to have the ability to fight and win immediately. In other words, to beat Juventus. And this is where Piero Ausilio is making moves to lay the foundation of Conte’s Inter, with the players that the coach thinks are going to be essential in this team.
In short, Inter are closer to its target…
