Speaking at an event, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta talks about football in general but he also dedicates a few phrases regarding his club.
“Football has changed and I have gone through various eras and changes as I have been a sporting director for 42 years. Stadiums have enormous importance now in terms of having the sense of belonging and revenues. At Juventus, I was able to experience the transition from the old to new: it allows you to earn more points in the standings and also in the budget. In Italy, this is an absolute need for us because we continue to be far behind the rest of Europe. It is necessary have foresight.
“What is a better club: one that wins or one that has positive balance? If we ask the fans, they would say one that wins but a club must have long-term plans. Often we are conditioned by the environment and an example of this is we change coach only for a negative period. Instead, there is the need to be rational and to understand that the coach cannot be the scapegoat.”
