If somehow Icardi just cannot come to an agreement with Inter and he leaves between July 1st and 15th for €110M (release clause), Inter will have no choice but to go on a search for an adequate replacement. The Corriere dello Sport, without forgetting that there is Lautaro Martinez in the team, gives us three potential names to look for in the summer:
Piatek- The Genoa striker is new name in the Italian league. But not only he is new but he is also great and that’s why all the big players around Europe are coming after the Polish striker. Thanks to the quick thinking of FIFA agent Gabriele Giuffrida, Genoa president Enrico Preziosi paid for €4.5M for him and now the Rossoblu boss could easily make 15 times that in case of a sale. The auction that is going to be unleashed will not make things easy for Inter but the two clubs have done business in the past (Valietti, Radu, Salcedo, Serpe) and will sit down once more very soon (Inter want to retake Radu and will discuss the redemption of Salcedo). This will be an opportunity to advance conversation for Piatek.
Werner – Timo Werner is better known than the Polish of Genoa because while Piatek is a discovery, the German has been doing it big for three straight years in Bundesliga. This year, he already has 11 goals in the league and he is also part of the national team with which he won the Confederations Cup. In recent months, there were rumors linking him to Real Madrid but nothing concrete has happened. The player’s value is €70M but it is destined to grow if he continues to score. Leipzig are a rich club and do not need to sell.
Rodrigo – The Brazilian has a Spanish passport and last season he scored 16 times in La Liga with Valencia. That was the best year in his career. Rodrigo has never really distinguished himself for being a great bomber and only has two goals this year. He was also linked to Real Madrid and last summer, Marcelino had to defend the €120M release clause. Such a high number for low contribution in this 2018-2019 season.
